Dear members,
Gateway will continue to devote all necessary resources to help ensure that you, our members, are able to conduct your business in a safe and comfortable environment, while maintaining all the services you can count on. As new developments emerge, we will share pertinent information to you about our plans.
As communicated at our last Annual General Meeting held in July 2019, your Credit Union promised to undertake a number of projects to improve the services that are being offered to you. We now provide you with an update on these projects.
FAIRVIEW BRANCH
This new branch was opened in Fairview on August 10, 2020. It is located at Unit 14 The Marketplace, Bogue Estate, Fairview Montego Bay (just southeast of the Gwest Centre and almost next to the Sweet Spice Restaurant). We have ample parking and will be outfitted with a state-of-the-art drive-thru facility by January 2021
SAM SHARPE SQUARE BRANCH (to be relocated)
Having found the cost to repair/renovate the Sam Sharpe Square Branch prohibitive, the building was sold. Therefore, our new Head Office and branch operations will be at 20 Church Street, Montego Bay effective Monday, October 5, 2020. Concurrently, we have negotiated to purchase the adjoining property at 18 Church Street which will house parking and drive-thru facilities once approval from the relevant authorities is obtained.
Please note, however, that this new branch is still undergoing renovations and we want to apologize beforehand for any inconvenience. Rest assured, once fully completed and operational, you will be beneficiaries of an expanded and upgraded facility to include an e-banking hall, drop-boxes and self-help banking facilities.
FALMOUTH BRANCH
For our members living and or working in Trelawny, we will be establishing a presence in the Falmouth area to serve you and our potential members while simultaneously expanding the Gateway brand. This office will become operational by the end of November 2020 and will be located at Shop #4, 2-4 Duke Street, Falmouth, Trelawny.
TECHNOLOGY
We have purchased new banking software to serve you more efficiently and this will be implemented in a test environment on November 1, 2020 and should be ready for roll-out on or before January 1, 2021. This new software will reduce transaction processing time, the need to visit the branch and will have online banking capabilities. Our new and improved website and its assistant “Jean” is already functional, please visit our website to learn more about us, our products and services, news and what we are doing in the communities in which we serve.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
We are still hoping to convene our Annual General Meeting before year end and will keep you updated.
